Does your company make the best bangers in the business? Then BPEX wants to hear from you! Entries are now being sought for its annual Foodservice Sausage of the Year Competition 2008.

The competition, now in its sixth year, aims to honour the best of the best in pork sausage production from catering butchers and sausage manufactures supplying into the foodservice sector.

There are five categories for entry:

·‘Traditional Pork Sausage’
·‘Speciality Pork Sausage’
·‘Best Pub Pork Sausage’
·‘Best Reduced-Fat/Salt Pork Sausage
·‘Best Pork Sausage (large volume produced)’

An overall winner from each category will be chosen by judges and announced at a grand final in London during October. One of the category winners will then go on to be crowned the ‘Foodservice Sausage of the Year 2008’ champion.

BPEX butchery and product development manager, Keith Fisher, said: “The Foodservice Sausage of the Year competition is an opportunity that catering butchers and suppliers simply cannot afford to miss. With over 270 entries last year this competition is incredibly popular, as it’s ideal for showcasing your products and getting valuable industry feedback.

“Every year we are overwhelmed by the number of entries and the standard of sausages we receive and I’m sure this year will be no exception.”

With British Sausage Week running from 3 to 9 November 2008, which always generates a heightened interest in sausages, there is no better time to enter your products into this competition.
